Stop It
Transmorgraph
2023
No matter how many times there is a collective cry to Stop It, humans ignore the escalating effect of global warming that cause hurricanes and extreme weather events impacting sea life. A mournful dog, who also rarely responds to being told to Stop It, grieves with the ocean and sea creatures as the stopwatch counts down to zero.
Ten photographs were digitally cut, blended, warped, and painted including the RCA dog Nipper, a stopwatch used by Davey Williams and LaDonna Smith to time the works on their first mid-70s LP TransMuseq I, fish, waves, and undersea rock outcroppings from the Chattanooga Aquarium and a NASA globe and hurricane. There is a subtext of improvisational music to the pieces due to the RCA dog and the TransMuseq connection.
